A broken spring on a garage door is a very common issue.  It’s known that most homebuilders install cheap garage doors which sometimes only have one spring.  This will cause problems And it’s not a long-term solution which is why we always recommend installing two springs instead of one.  Having two Springs will last much longer, won’t cause unnecessary pressure on the bearings, and will be safer when it does break. If one spring breaks there is still a second spring holding half of the weight of the door.  When replacing the springs it’s important to replace the plastic bearing inside with a center bearing flange that has ball bearings.  This is a much stronger flange than the plastic one the builders typically install.
